Crafting System
REM Exclusive Craft weapons, modules and depot items from resources gathered through mining and trading.
Overview
The REM crafting system is a full gameplay layer built on top of the original Freelancer economy. Instead of simply buying everything from equipment dealers, you can gather resources (through mining, missions or trading), unlock blueprints and craft weapons, shields, engines and depot items that are not available anywhere else.
Crafting rewards players who invest time in the game economy and gives long-term goals beyond simply accumulating credits. Top-tier crafted equipment often outperforms items available at stations.
Blueprints
Every craftable item requires a blueprint in your character's known blueprint list. Blueprints are obtained through:
| Method | Details |
|---|---|
| Mission rewards | High-level and special missions can reward blueprints as a bonus |
| Base vendors | Selected stations sell common blueprints at their equipment dealers |
| Exploration | Some blueprints are hidden in derelict wrecks and abandoned stations |
| Faction rewards | Reaching certain reputation levels with factions unlocks exclusive blueprints |
| Player trade | Blueprint copies can be traded between players at depot bases |
To see your current blueprints, type /rem blueprints in chat.
Resources
Resources are raw materials used as ingredients in crafting recipes. They are obtained through:
- Mining – the primary source of rare materials (see Mining guide)
- Loot drops – NPCs in certain systems drop crafting components
- Commodity trade – some raw materials can be purchased at refineries
- Mission rewards – special missions occasionally reward resource bundles

| Tier | Examples | Source |
