Complete ship reference – all classes, factions and stat comparisons
Every ship in Freelancer belongs to one of five classes that determine its role, hardpoint count and overall firepower ceiling. Understanding the classes is the first step to picking the right hull for your playstyle.

Civil / Universal Ships
These ships are available across multiple factions and house territories – ideal starting points for new pilots who haven't yet aligned with a specific house or organisation.

Rheinland Ships
Rheinland vessels are known for robust engineering, moderate cargo holds, and strong armor for their class. Found primarily in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich and New Berlin.

Bretonian hulls tend to be budget-friendly and accessible early in the game, found across Cambridge, Leeds, New London and the surrounding systems.

Kusari Ships
Kusari designs prioritise agility and firepower. Their top-tier ships – the Dragon and Blood Dragon – are among the strongest faction fighters available. Found throughout Kyushu, Shikoku, New Tokyo and Honshu.

Liberty Ships
Liberty produces a full lineup from basic patrol fighters to the imposing Liberty Cruiser. These ships are widely available across New York, Colorado, Texas, California and Pennsylvania.

Border Worlds Ships
Border Worlds vessels are built for pilots operating far from house authority. The Sabre is widely considered the best all-round VHF in the game, and the Dromedary is the premier trading freighter.

The Order Ships
Order ships are rare, expensive, and exclusive – typically found only in deep Omicron space. They represent some of the most powerful hulls in the game and require significant faction standing or credits to acquire.

Corsairs Ships
Corsair vessels are built like tanks – exceptional armor relative to their class. The Titan is a favourite in PvP for its outstanding hull integrity. Found in Omicron Gamma and surrounding Corsair-held space.

Bounty Hunter hulls combine strong shields, solid armor and good weapon loadouts – purpose-built for hunting specific targets. Available at Bounty Hunter bases scattered across the sector.

Pirates Ships
Pirate ships are the workhorses of criminal organisations across Sirius. They tend to be cheaper, accessible earlier, and perfectly serviceable for players who don't mind flying with the outlaws.

- Best all-round combat ship: Sabre – superb hardpoint mix (2×Cl9 + 4×Cl10 + turret), agility and decent cargo make it the gold standard for combat pilots.
- VHF with cargo (hybrid role): Eagle – 70 cargo units plus a rear turret; excellent for pilots who mix combat and light hauling.
- Best trader freighter: Dromedary – 350 cargo capacity and the highest armor of any freighter; nothing else comes close for pure trading.
- Best PvP tanks: Titan and Hammerhead – both offer exceptional armor pools for their price brackets, making them the top choices for players who want to absorb punishment in extended PvP fights.
