Sirius is home to dozens of factions — from the four Great Houses and their militaries, to pirate cartels, mercenary guilds and alien threats. Your reputation with each faction determines whether they are friendly, neutral or hostile toward you.
Reputation System
Reputation ranges from "Allied" (green, +730) to "Hostile" (red, -730). Each faction has counterpart enemies — raising reputation with one faction lowers it with their enemies. Mission rewards, combat kills and bribed NPCs all affect reputation. Managing these relationships is a key part of navigating Sirius, especially once you venture beyond Liberty Space.

Notes
Bounty Hunters Guild (BHG)
For-hire fighters. Neutral with most factions. Use Hammerhead, Barracuda ships.
Zoners
True independents. Run the Freeports. Peaceful traders.
Interspace Commerce
Neutral trading company. Runs jump gates.
Ageira Technologies
Produces jump gates and cruise engines. Liberty-aligned.
Deep Space Engineering
Construction/mining. Allied with Zoners.
The Nomads
Nomads are alien lifeforms that can possess humans and infiltrate human society. They are universally hostile to all player factions. Their ships use energy-based weapons that bypass conventional defenses. Nomad kills can drop rare components usable in the REM crafting system. Found in Omicron systems and deep border space.
REM Player Roles
In REM, players naturally fill various roles beyond their in-game faction. These are community roles, not hard game mechanics:
Role
Description
How to Play
Freelancer
Jack of all trades. Missions, trading, occasional combat.
PvP zones, requires strong ship and faction alignment.
Mercenary / Bounty Hunter
Offers combat services for credits. Uses /bounty system.
Strong combat ship, good reputation diversity.
Military
Enforces house law in their territory.
House military rep required. Patrols PvP zones.
Crafter
Mines, trades and crafts high-end equipment for profit.
All three above skills needed. Best credit ceiling.
Role Tip: You are not locked into a role. Many players combine trading and combat. The crafting loop (mine → craft → sell) is the highest-credit ceiling activity in REM.
Discord Factions: Faction membership in REM (beyond in-game reputation) is handled on Discord. Some player factions have Discord roles and organised fleets. Join the Discord to find your people.
