Shields
Your primary defense before hull damage is taken.
Shields absorb incoming fire before your hull takes damage. Three shield types (Graviton, Molecular, Positron) are available across three ship categories (Fighter, Elite Fighter, Freighter) in ten class tiers. Higher classes provide greater capacity and recharge. Each ship can only equip a shield matching its own ship category.

| Graviton | Highest capacity and recharge of the three types. The strongest all-round choice and most commonly used in PvP. |
| Molecular | Slightly lower capacity and recharge than Graviton. Different damage-type resistance profile — may be preferred against specific enemy loadouts. |
| Positron | Shares the same capacity and recharge as Molecular. Offers a distinct resistance profile useful in specialized combat situations. |
Shield type affects damage resistances against different weapon categories (laser, plasma,
particle, etc.). Graviton has the highest raw stats; Molecular and Positron trade raw
capacity for different resistance profiles.

For PvP, the Class 10 Elite Graviton shields are the meta choice. The
Opt. Champion Elite Shield at 11,038 capacity is the highest for fighter-class
ships. For freighters, the Opt. Champion Freighter Shield tops out at 12,915.
